Capps, Myke Towers and more. View more issues. By Sanford Nowlin October 25, San Antonio loves post-hardcore band Dance Gavin Dance's hard-thrashing anthems, as evidenced by the band's sold-out performance Friday at Vibes.

The Texas based band draws some influence from southern rock, but they mainly present their material with a full fledged metal mentality. Their guitars are tuned down to low pitches and cranked up to the loudest volumes. Most of their songs sound like the guitarists tune their guitars down a whole step and then drop their lowest E string to a C tuning allowing for them to play the guitar more openly, which gives their sound a more forceful delivery.

The guitars, drums, and bass often play in a unified rhythm giving a layered, and more powerful sound to their performance. Their guitarists will often break off from their style of heavy rhythmic playing and will transition into face melting solos that are performed at lighting fast speeds. They have large longhorn cattle skulls displayed in the background and layers of red lights often wash over the stage, which gives the impression that the band is playing in a red western desert.

The band members all give every bit of energy they have into the performance. They are fiercely head banging to the music and the vocalist is jumping onto amps while screaming his lyrics into the audience. The vocalist also is inciting the audience to start up mosh pits, crowd surf up to the stage, and sing out the choruses to all of the songs, and the audience happily complies to all of his wishes. Upon a Burning Body may dress like gentlemen by sporting fashionable suits on stage, but their music and live performances convey their unruly side that makes for one exciting show.

They are death, hard core metal rockers to their very core. Metal heads only: proceed. Any others, turn back. From the moment the band step on to stage, the airwaves blast death core metal. As the band start to play the instrumentals prove to be every bit as forceful as the tracks they accompany.

Guitarists Ruben Alvarez and Sal Dominquez are crazy on their instruments, bashing out heavy guitar riffs and exploding deep melodies.

Lead singer Danny Leal has a voice so low and heavy that dogs bark when he sings. His voice knows no limits and as he belts out the lyrics, the crowd start head bashing in unison, as if joined together by an invisible metal head force.

These guys were the last show of the night. They were really who I came to see. They weren't the headliner but you could tell everyone in there was there to see them vs everyone else. Everyone knew every lyric. Great energy.

Nice guys. Managed to catch Danny for a photo after the show and the stage crew got me an autograph. Definitely one of the best shows of my life. This album peaked at on the billboard back in The world is my enemy now was released on August 12, and was a total of 40 minutes long.

The genres in this album are Groove Metal and Metalcore. Also this album was ranked much higher on the billboard , it was ranked The band actually did a publicity stunt trying to promote their third album.

The band had reported that Danny Leal was missing, the band later posted the album cover for their 3rd album which showed their vocalist tied up in the background, thus revealing the whole angle as a joke. Since then the band doesn't want to apologize. This album was their newest, being released on October 28, through Sumerian Records. The album features many different sounds. Many songs off the album feature killer cleans and groovy riffs. Nonetheless the album is filled with some really nice head banging jams!

I've always disliked them for the publicity stunt they pulled.
